Lorraine's nephew brought out a bunch of high-school-age friends who all took our leaflet and promised to keep asking Joe Preston questions (about why the Conservatives are ignoring Canadian democracy by deporting war resisters).

Not a huge amount of foot traffic, but many slowed their vehicles and a few stopped. One older guy identified himself as a Korea veteran (I braced myself but...) then he went to say that they had wasted lives and money on an unwinnable war back then, so why are we doing it again? He took the leaflet and said he would call the Conservative MP Joe Preston to let him know his views on the matter.

We were told that a BIG event in St. Thomas would be 4-8 people: we more than doubled that, with around 15 during the hour or so were were there. With MANY thanks to Lorraine & Sharon and their extended family (most of whom Sharon bought t-shirts for!).

This a Cut and past directly out of Corps.Watch. This event alone shows everything we are fighting against. It sickens me they kind of things they are getting away with. I am going to put the article in here and a link to the FOX NEWS interview.

Jeremy Hinzman, one of the first War Resisters to seek refuge in Canada from the Iraq war, has been ordered deported by September 23rd, 2008. This would mark the second War Resister who filed for refugee status to be deported by the Canadian government, despite the June 3rd resolution in the house of commons.

Lee Zaslofsky, the head of the national War Resisters Support Campaign, recently took a trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to visit where Robin Long was being interred. This is his report. We are all with Robin, and I encourage everyone to write to Robin to show our solidarity to our lost brother.

Canada's federal court says that being ordered to violate Geneva Convention grounds for refugee status. This is 'old news', but the YouTube video is excellent.
