About London Resisters

The London war resisters support campaign spawned as the need for more support was on the rise.

The London support campaign was created in early 2007, Beth Guthrie contacted Lee Zaslofsky. The main organizer of the National war resisters support campaign. Beth was informed that there was and is a growing need for support, Lee gave her contact information for a resister (Tim Richard), who was already living in London. From there they organized there first meeting. At the first meeting there was a surprisingly large interest and a previously unknown resister also arrived. Since then a number of others resisters have stayed with us for longer or shorter periods of time.

We have only grown in every direction since the beginning. We hold rallies, fund-raisers as well as other events that take place all over London and we will keep them all posted on this site. London resisters were in attendance at the House of Commons when we won the "non binding motion" to allow Iraq war resisters to stay in Canada. The vote was 137 to 110 obviously in our favor, and it shows that the current minority government does not respect the will of the people or the will of parliament. The current polls all across Canada were in support of the war resisters staying in Canada.
